A woman wearing an old-fashioned dress and shawl finds herself walking through the streets of a rapidly modernizing city. From her window, she admires the Golden Gate Bridge, painted a bright orange. She sees men, women and children in business attire walking past. She turns down an alley and finds herself face to face with a pack of hyenas — but they don’t attack her. Instead, the pack leader leave her a message written on the pavement: “They have arrived.”


An archaeologist removes his hat and gloves and pours two small glasses of sherry. In the background, there is a rattling sound. “What was that?” he asks.


A group of intrepid explorers enter an ancient site in Egypt, laughing and taking photographs while searching for hidden treasures. They come across a small subterranean cave, carved out of the rock and covered in hieroglyphics. The lead explorer enters.


A group of tourists enter through the city’s ornate, gated entrance. A man walks towards them, dressed in a crisp white suit. “There is nothing left,” he whispers.

Deep underground, a young woman walks along a set of tracks, through the darkness, guided only by the occasional lantern. She stumbles on the tracks and nearly falls over before standing upright again. “It’s farther than I thought it would be,” she says.
